She is the founder and Creative Director of Somi London, a luxury fashion house combining Saudi cultural heritage with contemporary Western design, sustainability and well-being. Her work has been showcased at London Fashion Week and the Cannes Film Festival, with her collections exploring identity, femininity, cultural storytelling and the relationship between fashion and human emotions. “It’s a privilege to be a fashion designer - we don't follow the trend, we create the trend and that's how we stand out. My vision is to continue combining east and west, combining the modern luxury with the historical culture of Saudi Arabia just because I found out that that's really who I am.” Through Somi London, she is exploring biodegradable materials, natural fibres and the potential of fashion to support wellness and longevity. “It's important to know where the fabric is coming from. It's very important to know if the person who worked on this fabric is getting paid enough and that's part of sustainability” Somy also founded Somi Talents Academy, helping emerging creatives develop their identities and build careers in fashion. During our discussion, we explored Saudi Arabia's growing fashion ecosystem, sustainable luxury, AI-powered design and manufacturing, the role of social media in creative entrepreneurship, and the future of intelligent wearable textiles. “Thanks to AI because of the measurement, they get the measurements so accurate. They get the pattern so accurate. There is no mistake. I got the samples right from the first from the first try.” 𝐈 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞, 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞, 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐀𝐈. Somy made an important point during our conversation: designers do not simply follow trends, they create them. AI can accelerate experimentation, improve precision and help optimise production, but human imagination, cultural identity and craftsmanship remain fundamental. The opportunity is to use AI to enhance creative intelligence rather than replace it. As generative AI becomes increasingly integrated into fashion, what will differentiate a truly original luxury brand from an AI-generated design?

Saudi Arabia's growing fashion ecosystem is an important example of how cultural heritage, entrepreneurship and technological innovation can come together. Somy's work connecting Saudi identity with contemporary Western luxury shows the opportunities for designers to build global brands without losing their cultural roots. As AI makes design and production tools more accessible, could we see a new generation of fashion entrepreneurs emerging from Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East?

One of the fascinating areas we discussed with Somy is the convergence of fashion, wellness and intelligent textiles. Imagine clothing designed not only for aesthetics but also to monitor physiological signals, support comfort and potentially contribute to preventive healthcare. We are moving towards a world where materials, sensors, AI and human well-being can converge. Could the next generation of luxury fashion become part of our personal health and longevity ecosystem?

According to UNEP, the textile industry is responsible for an estimated 2–8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Meanwhile, Textile Exchange reports that global fibre production reached a record 139 million tonnes in 2025. We need to rethink how fashion is designed, produced and consumed. Could AI, circular materials and smarter manufacturing help transform luxury fashion into a model for sustainability?

AI is opening opportunities across the entire fashion value chain, from design and pattern-making to personalised sizing, manufacturing and supply chains. Somy shared how AI helped her achieve accurate measurements and get samples right on the first attempt. Think about the potential for reducing material waste, production costs and development time. Can AI help us create a fashion industry that is both more creative and more sustainable?

RT @bimedotcom: The Selfish Gene, 50 years on — it’s time for an update ✍️@nccomfort via @Nature 👉Nathaniel Comfort marks the 50th anniversary of Richard Dawkins’s The Selfish Gene by arguing that its strict, reductionist "gene's-eye view" of evolution has become an outdated framework in modern biology. 👉 He contends that focus must shift away from treating the gene as an isolated, pseudo-agentic strategist and toward a new era of literature that captures the complex and developmental realities of life. 💡 Comfort rightly points out that while Dawkins’s poetic reductionism was brilliant for public engagement, it has inadvertently fossilised evolutionary biology into an oversimplified narrative that struggles to accommodate the systemic complexities discovered by modern genomics. @Corix_JC @TheAIObserverX @FractaloidConvo @JagersbergKnut @ahier @ChuckDBrooks @Shi4Tech @CEO_AISOMA @sallyeaves @ThEiLe0 @maponi @dinisguarda @TarakRindani @FrRonconii @Ym78200 @Nicochan33 @Khulood_Almani @TysonLester @SusanHayes_ @EstelaMandela @JoannMoretti @sulefati7 @FernandaKellner @pchamard @NeiraOsci @darioandriani @ALouiseLavalett @Fabriziobustama @amalmerzouk @arlenenewbigg @drsharwood @mikeflache @RLDI_Lamy @smaksked @Eli_Krumova @PVynckier @chidambara09 @sminaev2015 @Analytics_699 @NathaliaLeHen @MHcommunicate @DanielleLargier

It’s the infrastructure being built to train entire generations of physical AI. According to the presentation, around 100 humanoid and service robots are expected to train across 48 dedicated cells. What happens when you take the operating discipline of fintech and apply it to one of the world’s most capital-intensive industries? Alan Chang joined Revolut at 21, became Head of Operations at 22 and Chief Revenue Officer at 27. After leaving at 28, he moved into energy and co-founded Fuse Energy with Charles Orr. Fuse is trying to combine software, renewable generation, infrastructure ownership and a technology-led operating model rather than behaving like a traditional electricity supplier. The company reported more than $300 million in annualised revenue by 2025 and has since been publicly described at a $5 billion valuation. But the more interesting story is bigger than one startup. We are seeing experienced technology operators move beyond software into energy, infrastructure, manufacturing and other physical industries. The next generation of tech companies may not simply digitise existing systems. They may own and rebuild parts of the physical infrastructure itself. The question is whether the speed and operating models of high-growth fintech can translate sustainably into sectors where capital, regulation, engineering and physical assets matter just as much as code. #Energy #Fintech #Revolut #FuseEnergy #RenewableEnergy #Technology #Startups #Infrastructure #DigitalTransformation
